Location: 60,  Jungmungwangwang - ro 72beon - gil, Seogwipo, Jeju - do 697 - 807

Jinny's opinion:

At the hotel:
This hotel was really impressive. What I liked the most were the paintings and other artworks placed every floor, where each floor had a different theme (they were all about the theme of Jeju, such as mountains and ocean).

There are two swimming pools in this hotel. One is a typical swimming pool, but the other one is a roof pool. At the top of the roof, you can enjoy the view of Jeju oreums and the bar. However, this pool is only open for adults (above 19).

The room:
The next thing that I liked was the minibar that were all free. The mini bar included chips, a milk chocolate, soda, one bottle of sparkling water, and two bottles of water.

The room that we stayed in. This hotel seemed to have "sailor" theme.

The view from the garden.

The view from the roof.

The children's/ground pool.

Writer's comment: I never visited here, but my school teachers told me what the hotel was like. The hotel owner (they are a couple) speaks English well and are kind. Car rental is recommended because the hotel is located about 30km away from the nearest city.

Podo Hotel

Assistance for foreigners: English, Japanese
Subsidiary Facilities: Garden, karaoke

Podo Hotel was selected as 50 'most unique' hotels in Korea by CNN Travel. The hotel was designed by
Itami Jun, famous Korean-Japanese architect. The design of the hotel was inspired by Jeju Oreums and Korean traditional houses.

Jinny's comment:
The hotel is very quite and relaxing.
I think the hotel is not well-known because there were few people (tourists) present whenever I went here. My mom especially liked the desert in Podo hotel; a vanilla ice cream with bean flour. I would recommend this hotel for a meal.

Jinny's comment:
Going to Hyatt hotel every new years eve was something that our family has been doing for past four years. The hotel did special events during new years eve. The rooms are very tidy, but there is no sound proof. When we stayed in Hyatt, we could hear people talking next door and during new year's eve, it was awfully noisy.

The breakfast buffet was very good. There are Korean food and Western food. I also liked the café because the place was surrounded by plants and there was pond.

Jinny's comment:
The Shilla hotel is luxury. I would recommend this hotel for tourists who have children. I went here few times for relaxation and dinner. The garden is superb; I have never seen a hotel having this big and neatly organized garden in Jeju. There are place for camping, small animals (birds, rabbits, and chickens), and the beach. The private beach house is right in front of the Jungmun Beach. There is also the kid's island: reception, fun village (sports and arcade), coking cabin, creative cave, hiding place (book cafe), fun box, and gymboree club. I want to say, this place has great facilities.

There were many different foods offered. The food was satisfying, but pricy. I had high expatiation for the food because the facilities were really good. The bakery had great breads too.

Jinny's comment:
I stayed in the hello kitty room with my family for one night during the summer break. The hotel interior was therefore, very over the top. However, I also felt it was tacky. The best part of this hotel is the swimming pool. The water is warm enough to swim even when the weather is quite chilly. My family spent a long time relaxing in the swimming pool when there was drizzle.

The buffet is satisfying. There are various kinds of foods offered; from Korean to Western foods. The buffet costs from 80,000 KRW.

Jinny's comment:
The architecture and the design is highly impressive. When I first visited this hotel, I instantly noticed the plants and the exposed sunlight. One of the employees told me that the interior of this hotel symbolize parts of Jeju Island (nearby islands, rocks, plants). However, many restaurants and tour sights are not in a close distance for you can walk by.

The restaurants are pricy. The foods are good, but I am not sure if the price is worth while. If I were to go here again, I would eat out.
